TPU Screen Protector for Joystick Displays
A flexible, self-healing protector with a split-back liner and alignment stickers. Follow the nine steps below.
What’s in the box
Before you begin
- Work in a clean, still room to minimize dust.
- Wash and dry your hands first.
- Turn the controller off.
- Use good light so you can see specks and bubbles.
- Don’t touch the sticky side of the protector.
- Set aside 10 quiet minutes.
Easily install in nine steps
Turn the controller off
Power down the chair’s controller. This prevents unintended movements, and helps you spot dust and bubbles clearly.
Why: The display shows fingerprints and dust better when it’s off.
Wipe the screen with alcohol
Open the alcohol wipe and clean the whole screen, corner to corner. Wipe in one direction, then the other, to remove oils and fingerprints.
Tip: Get right into the corners — that’s where grime hides.
Dry and Polish
Buff the screen with the microfiber cloth until it’s completely dry and streak-free. Any leftover moisture will trap under the film.
Pro-tip: Shine a flashlight on the screen — it should look clear with no smears.
Lift any last dust
Press the dust sticker gently onto the screen and lift straight off. Repeat over the entire screen and on any specks you can see.
Do this last: Even a clean-looking screen can have a speck. This helps prevent bubbles.
Trim the squeegee card to the screen’s width
Hold the felt card against the screen and mark its exact width. Cut the card down so the felt edge is the same width as the screen — no wider.
Why the exact width: This ensures that the protector adheres properly by evenly distributing pressure.
Line it up, then secure it with the stickers
Place the protector on the screen (liner still on), ensuring the edges are even. Then tape the top edge to the controller with both alignment stickers, one on each side. These anchor the top half and hold your alignment while you work.
Note the split line: The faint line across the middle of the backing is where the liner separates. You’ll do the two halves in order — free half first, taped half last.
Peel and secure the free half first
Start with the half the stickers don’t hold — the bottom half. Grip the liner at the middle split and peel it toward the bottom edge, following right behind the peel line with the felt card so the film presses down as you go. The stickers keep everything secured while you adhere this half.
Peel and squeegee as one motion — the film should never sit exposed.
Remove the alignment stickers
Now that the bottom half is stuck down and holding alignment, hold down the top half and peel off both alignment stickers. The top half is still lined and loose — that’s exactly what you want before the last step.
The bonded half is secured now, so it’s safe to take the guides off before finishing.
Peel and press the top half, then finish
Do the top half the same way: grip the liner at the middle split and peel it up toward the top edge, with the felt card following right behind. Finish with one firm pass from the center out to all four edges, then power the controller back on.
You’re done. Run a fingertip around the border to seat the edges.
If you see bubbles or dust
Tiny bubbles
Small air bubbles usually disappear within 24–48 hours as the TPU settles. Leave them be.
A larger bubble
Push it gently toward the nearest edge with the felt card. If it won’t move, lift that edge slightly and lay it back down.
A trapped speck
Peel back the nearest corner, lift the speck off with a piece of tape, and squeegee the film back down. Don’t use your finger.
Keeping it clear
- Clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth — no harsh solvents or abrasive pads.
- The self-healing TPU heals light scratches and scuffs over time.
- If the film ever becomes cloudy, peels, or gets deep scratches, it’s time for a fresh one.
